A rekindled passion for the clay medium, the ceramics collection features a combination of artistic but functional dinnerware, planters, and figurative sculpture.
dinnerware
the obvious: cups, mugs, plates and bowls but with attention to the pleasure one experiences by using a hand-made utilitarian object. Bowls nestle perfectly in a cupped hands, fingers fit snug into mugs handles with a special place for a thumb and colors & glaze combinations that are wonderful to look at
potheads
personalites for plants, these are first wheel thrown in a variety of sizes and then sculpted to look like faces (some only a mother could love) once a plant is added, a whole being emerges, way better than a chia pet
clay texture
my endless fascination with texture in metals has crept into clay. I’ve liked the combination of the organic forms with actual nature so many textured planters have evolved but it is poking it’s way into dinnerware as well.
people
about 10″ high, these figures are based on people I have either known or observed. the head and limbs are high fired clay wired together, stuffed and embellished with clothes, hair and jewelry, sometimes the materials used are those of the actual person.
